After a lot of work I did in parallel for my previous post, almost everything is done. Now we need to check everything together and reassemble the machine!

PSU Check

As the PSU only produces a 5v output the test was relatively easy. The PSU has a floppy drive connector directly to it and spade connectors for the motherboard. So, I connected a spare GoFloppy drive to the floppy drive connector and a multimeter to the spade connectors. Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of this, but it showed a clean 5.1v output. This was good enough for me, and I wired this back up.

Cleaning

All the plastic casing was cleaned using a plastic cleaning spray and cloth. This, combined with an alcohol spray, also easily removed what appears to be the remains of a paper strip above the F-keys. So, here are the before/after photos:

Not a lot of change as it was already relatively clean. The keyboard could use a quick wipe later, but this appears to be only lightly used too.

Conclusion

I now have a fully working Acorn Archimedes A3000 and I’m super happy about that. I have some upgrades in mine I want to do for it, but those will be for a later blog post. For now I’ll leave you with shots of Zarch, demo mode followed by my terrible attempt at playing it!
